start mat classes
information for beginners + experienced students
Starting classes
Pilates is for everyone; men, women, especially seniors, kids + teens and pre + postnatal women. Taking your first step onto the Pilates mat is an exciting new beginning. We believe the only way to start Pilates is with the highest standard of teacher in the best environment. Take your time – practice + patience are essential.
Both Pilates Mat classes + Pilates Equipment classes are excellent exercise methods for pre + postnatal women. Please inform the teacher that you are pregnant or have recently given birth at the start of the class so that your class can be tailored to meet your specific needs. The best way to begin
A triyoga Beginners Course is the ideal (but not the only way) to begin your practice. You will be alongside other beginners, discovering Pilates in a safe + fun space. The practice builds week by week, providing a solid foundation and inspiring you for classes or a course at the next level.
Can't make the Beginners Course? Start with a Level 1 or Open Level class
If Beginners Course times don't work for your schedule, then Level 1 or Open Level classes are the best place to start. The time you spend at beginner level establishes the foundations of your practice.

Check with your teacher before moving up a level and always inform the teacher if you are pregnant or have any injuries. We have classes at the following levels:
Level 1
Open to complete beginners, those in the initial stages of Pilates practice or those seeking a gentler practice. Experienced practitioners can also sometimes benefit from going back to this level and getting in touch with the fundamentals of Pilates.
Open Level
Open to all levels from complete beginners to more experienced practitioners. The teacher adapts the class according to the needs of students present.
Level 2
Works on a deeper physical level, introducing more challenging exercises + strength building. Not suitable for beginners.
Level 3
A challenging class for more experienced practitioners that assumes a good grounding in the principles of Pilates. Please be aware that this is a tough class.
