hypnobirthing course with Katharine Graves

Hypnobirthing makes a difference to your experience of birth. It is a full antenatal class, based on the premise that birth is natural, normal and easy, using hypnosis to release the fear that causes tension and pain in the birthing experience, and teaching couples how to achieve a safe, calm and comfortable birth, whether at home or in hospital.

This highly effective course is taught to groups in a supportive and relaxed environment over two Saturdays. Katharine also teaches private classes.

Couples usually attend classes together, learning how to use relaxation, breathing, visualization and other techniques to release any tension before and during the birth. Fathers and birth companions are taught how to play an integral role, helping mothers eliminate anxiety, and empowering them to look forward to, and take control of, their birth.

pregnancy partners with Nadia Narain

Mothers in Nadia's pregnancy class wanted their partners to share in their experiences and so, in this special workshop, there will be a chance for partners to participate. The workshop will include an inspirational talk and a chance to find out what really goes on in class. Couples will practise some yoga and learn various techniques to support the birthing mother. After the workshop there will be tea and biscuits and the opportunity to meet the other parents-to-be.

Nadia believes that, when the child is born, so too the mother and father are born. During pregnancy it is vital that the mother-to-be is supported and helped to feel great about herself so that she is empowered to give birth consciously. Then, however it happens, it becomes the perfect birth for her. As the pregnancy progresses within the mother, sometimes partners can feel left out. Through this workshop, partners will have the opportunity to become more involved with the pregnancy and birth of their child, learning ways of connecting with their baby and partner. No previous yoga experience is needed. A willingness to have fun and celebrate pregnancy, birth and the blessing of life is required!

This is a two hour workshop for pregnant mums covering: 

  • everything you need to know about breastfeeding
  • how to attach baby to breast
  • when to express
  • what to do for sore nipples
  • what if you think you haven't got enough milk or if baby isn't putting on weight?
  • preparation for getting baby to sleep at the right time of day or night
  • creating a flexible baby-led routine
  • what to do if you have problems breastfeeding in the hospital
  • how to prevent your milk supply from drying up if you are required to top up with formula

Good habits start early and this workshop is an excellent way to prepare and cultivate awareness before the baby arrives. 

yogabirth hypnobreathing: preparing for the birth of your baby with Lolly Stirk

As a follow on from the 6 week yogabirth course at triyoga or on its own, this unique one day workshop will prepare you and your partner for the birth of your baby. As a birth companion Lolly has attended hundreds of births over the years and this experience feeds her enthusiasm and knowledge of the subjects covered.

This workshop is hands on and confidence building for women and their birthing partners. We take time to explore how the body works during labour and birth and consider ways we can assist this evolved process to flow.

With the understanding that a woman’s body knows how to give birth and all she has to do is trust in the process and let go to it, we focus on partners and the important part they play in bringing the baby into the world. The safety of the mother and baby is paramount, and encouraging women to respond positively and instinctively to work with their bodies in gravity assisted positions gives comfort, facilitates the process and keeps mother and baby well oxygenated and safe.

To include:
–  Hypnobreathing for labour and birth – sounding and visualisations
–  The hormones of labour – the environment to encourage the release of these hormones
–  Gravity assisted positions and movements for labour and birth – to include massage
–  The use of water and other complementary pain relief
–  How to get the best out of your hospital ...and much more

All the above are ways of avoiding medical interventions and complications and we will not be covering these in depth in this workshop.

We will be working from 10am until 5pm with tea breaks and a break for lunch. Wear comfortable clothing and expect to enjoy yourself.
