We have two strands of Pilates: Pilates Mat classes and Pilates Equipment classes. Read more about Pilates Mat classes here or Pilates Equipment classes here . Once you have decided whether you want to start Pilates as a mat class or in the equipment studio, ideally, start with a Beginner Course for Pilates Mat classes or a starter pack for Pilates Equipment classes. If the times don't work for you, then begin with Pilates Level 1 classes, Open Level classes, or one on one sessions. View more information for starting Pilates here.

You are encouraged to do Pilates during Pregnancy for your health + the baby's health. Yoga + Pilates are excellent for pregnancy on physical, emotional + mental levels. It is advised that you do not practise Pilates in the first trimester, which is a crucial time of transformation for the body + any exertion should be avoided.

No. Pilates like yoga is a practice that’s meant to be for life. They can be modified to suit all ages + levels of strength + fitness.

If you're inflexible then you are the perfect candidate. Pilates enhances flexibility; it's not a prerequisite. So if you've got tight shoulders, back, hamstrings, hips, quads or more or less... Pilates will really help. If you are at the other end of the spectrum and over flexible, Pilates can be a great way to balance the body’s strength against flexibility.

Pilates is actively encouraged for older people. It is low impact + a safe way to build strength, flexibility + endurance, without putting the body under strain. You cannot be too old to start or practise Pilates. Read more about benefits of Pilates. There are two types of Pilates classes - Pilates Mat classes + Pilates Equipment classes. For Pilates Mat classes, whatever age you are, the best way to start is with a Beginners Course. If this is not possible, you can attend the gentler classes (Level 1 or Open Level classes, where teachers can guide beginners through the fundamentals.
For Pilates Equipment classes, the best way to begin is with a Starter Pack, which gives you one-on-one sessions with the choice to also include group sessions. Expert Pilates teachers assess your individual needs and advise the best way for you to practise Pilates as a senior.

It depends on the nature of the injury. Pilates can be particularly good for both prevention of and rehabilitation from injuries. All our Pilates teachers are rehabilitation trained. We advise that you ask your specialist or GP if you are being seen, speak to the teacher, or call the front desk and explain the situation + get guidance. You must tell the teacher before the class of any injuries so they can help you adjust your practice.
