gentle birth method

The Gentle Birth Method is a nurturing program for pregnancy and post natal Mamas that helps support a belly full of joy!

Devised by Dr Gowri Motha over 20 years ago this philosophy guides Mothers week by week through their pregnancy. It draws together various treatment techniques including Creative Healing Massage (a massage that works on physical and energetic lines of the body), Reflexology, Craniosacral therapy and Postnatal massage

The programme discusses Gentle Birth Method Nutritional advice and guidance in relation to the guidelines suggested in the book as well as birth preparation. In addition, reiki and organic essential oils are incorporated into the treatments.

What to expect from the program
Each treatment is specifically tailored to what is needed to support the body and is applicable to whether you are having a natural or caesarean, home or hospital birth. It’s all about empowerment, feeling birth fit, vibrant and happy!

The treatments aim to support pregnancy related issues such as digestive issues, back/pelvic discomfort, nausea, anxiety and sluggish lymphatic system.

Having a framework in which expectant Mother’s can be nurtured as they are nourishing their baby physically and emotionally is essential for balanced wellbeing. London living is challenging at the best of times let alone when pregnant, therefore it is vital to schedule time for space that supports the bonding process, which begins in utero. The endorphins that are released when a Mother relaxes are what a baby thrives on.

It is also encouraged that Mother’s bring their partner to one of their treatment sessions so that they can learn a few basic massage techniques that can be used for treatment at home and during labour. A relaxed and soft body makes a happy home for your baby!

How the Gentle Birth Method supports postnatal health
The program is not only for the support of pregnancy and birth preparation, but also for the strength that it gives for the transition into motherhood. If a body has been nourished and supported throughout pregnancy the transition is much smoother than if you are depleted before the start.

It is easy to forget about yourself when you are caring for your new baby, but a baby needs you to also feel cared for and relaxed as they are connected to their Mother on a deep level and aware of your emotions too. Mothers are welcome to bring their baby to their post natal appointments.

The Gentle Birth Method approach is that a Mother should feel peaceful and full of vitality though her pregnancy, using treatments tailored to her specific needs. The program can be used as a whole or in part, the main objective is supporting the beginnings of Motherhood.

Sara began her studies in natural health 15 years ago. She has worked and trained with Dr. Gowri Motha of the gentle birth method and at St John’s Wood Viveka Centre. She also previously worked at Shengaia in Primrose Hill.

Each of Sara’s treatments is bespoke, using a blend of therapies – or as a single therapy treatment if preferred – that nurtures both the physical and emotional needs of the body. This encourages self-healing by the release of muscular tension and blocked energy. Her treatments are suited for all areas of wellbeing for both men and women, however her specialised area is women’s health, fertility, pregnancy, post-natal treatments and digestive health.
